Are you excited to be back for the second edition of the Zudek No Borders Euro Cup?
We are proud to be part of one of the most prestigious tournaments in Europe. For our players, this tournament guarantees the opportunity to compare themselves with different, often better realities, from which we have to steal something to get closer to their level.
Do you consider it an important tournament in the European scene?
Just one edition was enough to attest this tournament as a goal for any club that wants to compare itself with the top European teams. The location, the organization and the level of the teams make this tournament a kind of Euroleague youth stage at the U16 level.
What are your expectations?
There are 5 Euroleague clubs participating, 1 Eurocup club, and then there is us and Jadran…. But having said that we want to try to play the last game. If you want to compete, you can’t not leave to try to reach the final.
Is there anyone on your team that you feel can become an important player?
Ours is a very new group, these are guys who were mostly doing a regional championship last year but they are growing by leaps and bounds. I think three very interesting guys, also for our youth national team, are Andrea Cefis, Pietro Masaro and Nicolas Fajardo. Patience is needed with them, but they have great room for growth and they are very good people.
How many trainings do the players do per week and how many games do they play?
These boys train 6 days a week, doing 1 hour of physical work, 30 minutes of individual work and 90 minutes of team work. However, the team is not the U16 team, our youth sector is divided into three work groups where age is not a discriminating factor. In fact, the team you will see on the field is a team that together has never trained.
